What major change did king Tut make to ancient Egypt? Pharaoh Tutankhamen, or more well known as king Tut, became a pharaoh and ruled from 1336 BC to 1327 BC. King tut became pharaoh at around the age of 8 or 9 but died around 17. King Tut's father, Akhenaten, left a mess for Tut. Egypt was in ruins when it was passed to king Tut, king Akhenaten believed that the religion and the temples were obscured, so he destroyed it. King tut thought otherwise and when he took the throne, restored the temples of deities. King tut did not make a major change by himself but he chose to revert back to the Egyptian way of life instead of staying with Akhenaten's laws. The middle kingdom was a golden age because the Egyptians created many new things in this time, such as a new style of art, and irrigation projects at the Faiyum, a large oasis on the west bank of the Nile in Lower Egypt, increased harvests. in the past the ancient Egyptians used writing for keeping records and honoring the gods, but in the middle kingdom they started telling stories with writing. For example one of the most famous written story at time was the Tale of the Shipwrecked Sailor.
