The ancient Egyptians were affected by the weather because the weather determined the growth of the Egyptians plant and the climate, which affected the life style of the ancient Egyptians. Ancient Egypt was divided into two parts, upper Egypt and lower Egypt. looking at a map though, lower Egypt would actually be on the top of upper Egypt. The land of Egypt had two names, the land that surrounded Egypt was called the "red land" . It was called this because the dessert's sand looked red under the hot sun. The land that was located on the banks of the Nile was named the "black lands". The black land was used by the ancient Egyptians to farm, it was named the black land because of the black silt that was deposited by the overflowing of the Nile river. The black land's dirt or soil was very fertile and grew many crops.

The ancient Egyptian's agriculture were affected by their geography because the different weather and climate resulted in various types of clothing, food, and faming methods. The ancient Egyptians took advantage of the Nile river overflowing and invented basin irrigation. The ancient Egyptians also grew grains such as wheat and barley, they also grew industrial plants such was papyrus and flax (a blue-flowered herbaceous plant that is cultivated for its seed (linseed) and for textile fiber made from its stalks.) Fruits and beans, along with salad crops such as lettuce, tomatoes were regularly grown. lastly root crops were grown( potatoes, onions and radishes.)

It is believed to be the longest river in the world. The Nile river also supplied the ancient Egyptian with a source of water and food. The Nile river overflowed often, leaving silt on the banks of the river. This silt was very fertile and worked as crop soil, many plants such as grains prospered in this silt. The Nile river had many dangerous animals that lived in it, such as crocodiles and hippopotamus, but the Nile also contained fish and other freshwater food that the Egyptians ate often. Around 4 million people live near the delta of the Nile river.

The Nile river's flooding also affected the ancient Egyptians because the Egyptian's buildings and civilization was sometimes flooded by the ancient Egyptians. the flood of the Nile was not always constant , sometimes if the Nile did not flood to the up banks , then the rich soil would not be deposited and the Egyptians would not have good soil to grow crops in the spring.
